1852 - 1918

My mother, Hannah Holt Cook, was born April 22, 1852 at Lancashire, England. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Rhodes Holt. The family came to the United States and Utah in 1866, mother being around fourteen years of age.
She married David Cook March 21, 1870 in the Endowment House, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mother, as far as I know, held few public positions in the church or otherwise. I only remember of her being a Relief Society Teacher, though I think there never was a wife who was more helpful and faithful to her husband, who spent many years in church and public service. She accepted one-half of all responsibilities undertaken by father.
Mother was an exceptional good cook and homemaker; was conservative, a very good manager; and I think to a very large measure, the success of the family business was due to her business ability and industry.
Mother was a good musician, being a well-accomplished player on the constina and a good alto singer.
The last ten years of her life her health was very poor. She died January 26, 1918.
